Adventures in HipstaLand:: World Beard and Moustache Championships

World Beard and Moustache Championships 2011

I've had another Hipstamatic Adventure posted on Facebook!

After launching Captain Fawcett's moustache wax website in November 2010, he asked me to represent him at the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Trondheim, Norway on Sunday 15 May. You can read more about that here.

My good friend Laura and I arrived in Trondheim armed with plenty of moustache wax, business cards and leaflets but didn’t really know what to expect.

We met many of the competitors and winners and they were the loveliest people - obviously eccentric - and hilariously funny. I don't think Laura and I have laughed so much in a long time. There were parties in the local bars most evenings too, so we got a chance to mingle and peddle our handmade moustache wax to them. We both left Trondheim with a new appreciation for men with facial hair!

While I was there I posted regular updates and took a lot of photographs. Most of these were taken using the popular iPhone app Hipstamatic that, in their own words, "brings back the look, feel, unpredictable beauty, and fun of plastic toy cameras from the past."

Hipstamatic have now posted an "Adventures in Hipstaland" album of my photographs, which was shared with their 63,800 Facebook fans. You can view it here.

If you have a “bucket list”, add the World Beard and Moustache Championships to it. The next one will be held in Germany in 2013.

Check out more photos from the collection here and here.
